After Computers (Ballad of the Dot-Commer)

We set sail on the New Economy
    From a distant shore
The winds blew away from recession
    Poverty no more
    Money for the asking
    a Market-Plan would be nice
The Wall Street boys were writing checks
they said "Hey, techie, name your price"

      And after computers
Nate wants to fly to mars
      After computers
I just want to sing in bars

We set sail on the New Economy
The seas were bright and calm
We had faith in our maiden ship:
    Santa Maria dot com
But then a storm blew in the economy
And there's mutiny in the rank
    And a wave overtook us
And our little ship just sank

      And after computers
Nate wants to fly to mars
      After computers
I just want to sing in bars

      After computers
Nate wants to fly to mars
      After computers
I just want to sing in bars
      or maybe the subway,
      or central park,
      or maybe in Carnegie Hall
      After computers
I don't want technology at all
