Heading to the East Coast and I don't know where I'm going
I'd like to see Virginia, and sleep where it is snowing
Stare out at the Blueridge from my woodstove heated room
Wake up in the Springtime, where the Dogwoods are in bloom

    Refrain:

    I don't know where I going
And I'm not sure where I've been
If I find myself along the way
    I'll be sure
      To drop a card
        To you
          From him

San Francisco Summer fog rolls in like frozen mush
So I'm Heading to the East Coast, where the Summer's hot and lush
Walk New England's green woods, run barefoot on the grass
And wander around naked without freezing off my ass

  [Refrain]

Now I'm Heading to the West Coast, to see my girl and brand new baby
Don't know how I got 'em, but I'll step up to the plate
Packing up my truck; got my dog and my belongings
Baby's due any day now; I hope I'm not too late

  [Refrain]

Heading to the East Coast, try to make a brand new start
My little daughter left this world, she took along my heart
I'll go back to New York, but there's been a lot of change
There's a hole in the ground and the skyline's strange

  I don't know where I going
And I'm not sure where I've been
If I find myself along the way
  I'll be sure
    To say hello
      From you
        To him
